One Man's Life

A collection of stories, photos and poems as seen and heard through the eyes o one who appreciates life and all it contains.

It has been said that we begin to die the day we are born, I suppose that is correct, along the way we collect memories and indelible images that make us who we are and influence how we interact with others. I hope some of these musings may enrich your life.

In the face of a potentially terminal health issue (see blog), my son recently asked me to record some of the stories I tell and why they impressed me. This website will attempt to do that.

Ever Changing

The directions our lives take, often driven by circumstances around us, bring different interests and goals to different times in our life. Some are fleeting and make but a shallow impression, but others are lifelong and become passions that often are focal points of other interests or hobbies. From an early age, a love for animals and anything outdoors has been an anchor that has been the jumping off point of hobbies and intrests that furthur define my life.

Underlying all this, a desire to know and understand my Creator, not in some superficial ritualistic way, but as my Father, in a personal relationship, (see some of my thoughts here) brings a lifetime of experiences and wealth of insight that I am compelled to share.

A Bit Of Philosophy

How often in conversation something is said that triggers a long overlooked memory, either a story or a picture in our mind. Most are pleasant and will bring a smile to one's face, others may be painful and cause feelings of resentment or anger. The former, I treasure and embrace as old friends, the latter, I try to quickly resolve in forgiveness, trying to understand the motivation and forcefully place it as far back in my recollection as possible. I have found that the older I become, the pleasant memories bring the most comfort and peace to my soul, so, I therefore choose only to dwell on them.

One of the best stories that I received over the 2009 Christmas Season was from someone I think, from Finland, I can't understand Finnish but am posting it here for your enjoyment.
